External Counter Pulsation [ECP] may be the answer to your unresolved health issues. ECP was FDA-approved in 1954 for the treatment of chest pain (angina) that wasn’t responsive to other types of treatment, and for others who were not eligible for stints or by-pass surgery for a variety of reasons. ECP uses pressure cuffs applied to your calves, thighs and pelvis, which pumps synchronized opposite of your heartbeat. This special pumping cycle sends blood back to the heart at the time when it normally gets its blood, increasing the supply and decreasing the amount of work the heart must do to send blood throughout the body. This therapy can reduce your need for medication and increase your ability to be active without experiencing symptoms.
The result is improved blood flow and lymphatic drainage. ECP is non-invasive; it does not require the use of any needles or tubes. It is safe and does not cause pain and feels like a deep tissue massage. Side effects are usually minor.
